No league sells competitive balance in the manner of the NFL: it's their core marketing message. But through 10 weeks of this season, this isn’t a league featuring uniform distribution among elite teams, poor performers, and average squads. Instead, it's a scenario where most of the league are merely fine.

Clear Picture in NFC

In the NFC, at least, the picture becomes more distinct. The Rams along with the Seahawks (both at 7-2) appear to be the most well-rounded squads in the NFL, and achieved blowout wins during Sunday's action. The 6-2 Eagles despite their struggles continue to possess a deeply skilled squad across the NFL, likewise with Green Bay (5-2-1 record). Detroit as well (six and three), despite their uneven performances in trench play and have been dealing with internal staff conflicts, have demonstrated they can defeat strong franchises. Indianapolis Colts

Today they appear inexperienced, speedy and bold. However, we must acknowledge the ease of the Patriots' matchups. They've played against the easiest slate throughout football, yet vulnerabilities remain. Drake Maye has been brought down 35 times – ranking second league-wide – with several hits he absorbed on Sunday appeared dangerous. As the season progresses, that punishment compounds.

Denver Analysis

The Broncos are eight wins similarly, and it still feels as if they’re holding their breath. Their quarterback has been erratic, and the offense plodding, as the defense handles the majority of the work. Absent adequate signal-calling, Denver cannot intimidate playoff opponents. The Chargers are also hovering in the Western division at 7-2, however, health issues affecting their protection unit will present challenges to mount a deep postseason tilt.

Pittsburgh Steelers

Meanwhile, Pittsburgh exists, surprisingly atop their division even after suffering a decisive loss to Los Angeles on Sunday night. They've been outscored overall, their defense too often disappears, and Aaron Rodgers’ limitations at this stage of his career continue to show up. They’re 5–4 and holding on, however, the Ravens, with Lamar Jackson healthy again and the schedule softening, have won three consecutive. We shouldn't be completely astonished that the Ravens have narrowed the gap to just one game, but how rapidly this occurred represents criticism toward Pittsburgh’s inconsistencies. The fact Baltimore began the season 1-5 yet still appear they should win the division is telling about the conference as a whole.

Traditional Powers

The Ravens' form part within a trio of powerhouses – together with Bills and Chiefs – fueled by former MVP signal-callers, who could still create the highest anxiety in opposing teams should they reach postseason. They're the teams everyone hopes to avoid, but the Chiefs and Bills continue to self-destruct.

Bills Struggles

Last week, the Bills were riding high after beating the Chiefs. This weekend they encountered among the season's worst defeats of the season. They didn’t just lose to the Dolphins; they were embarrassed, dropping a 30-13 road game. This represented Miami's initial victory versus Buffalo in several seasons.
