R360 League Recruits Subject to 10-Year Suspension from Australia's Rugby League

The NRL's authority has declared that athletes who sign with the “breakaway” R360 will be prohibited for a decade.

The new league, scheduled to begin in October 2026, is seeking to lure athletes from both codes with substantial agreements and a slimmed-down playing schedule.

Top National Rugby League athletes have allegedly been contacted by the new league, which will feature multiple men's teams and four women's sides located in key urban centers around the world.

Samoa's Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, who plays for the Warriors in the competition, has confirmed he has had negotiations involving the new organization.

Ryan Papenhuyzen, Zac Lomax, Haas and Jye Gray are also said to be considering joining the rebel league.

A group of union nations, among them Australia, earlier announced a prohibition on players joining R360 appearing in global fixtures.

“We've listened to our clubs and we've taken firm action,” stated the league's chairman the official.

“Unfortunately, there will continually be entities that seek to pirate our game for potential financial gain.

“They fail to contribute in development systems or the development of athletes. They simply exploit the hard work of others, endangering athletes of economic hardship while benefiting financially.

“They are, in reality, imitating the sport.”

R360 is co-founded by retired international Tindall and funded by commercial backers.

Following the potential rugby union prohibitions were revealed earlier, it said: “We seek to cooperate collaboratively as integrated into the international rugby schedule.

“The series is structured with customized calendars for male and female sides and we will release all players for global fixtures, as written into their agreements.”

R360 will seek approval for its plans from World Rugby, union's administrative organization, at its official gathering next year.
