Shock as Popular South African DJ Gunned Down in Johannesburg.
A popular South African radio and club DJ has been fatally gunned down in the country's largest city Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a nation struggling with rampant crime.
Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was attacked in the central business district on the afternoon of Tuesday.
Officials stated the 40-year-old media personality was approached by three individuals, with one began shooting at him before fleeing on foot.
The motive of the incident remains unclear and no one has been arrested have taken place, according to authorities.
Details of the Attack
Police revealed that Stock was attacked as he was leaving a building close to the city center landmark.
He had devoted time at the building overseeing the implementation of security systems, which had been controversially occupied by squatters, according to reports.
"Authorities believe the victim was confronted by three unidentified men after parking his vehicle, and they opened fire at him before fleeing the scene on foot," an official report stated.
Surveillance tape showed a man with dreadlocks and dressed in what looked like a protective services outfit firing shots on Stock before making his escape.
The DJ sought to escape after he was hit but fell down across the street.
Police added that Stock had an weapon on his person and no items were stolen during the assault.
Crucial forensic evidence, like spent shells, were found at the crime scene.

Police have appealed eyewitnesses who may have seen the suspects to contact them.
"We know they traveled on foot after the shooting, and investigators have been tracking them to establish their location," added an official.

His sister, a close relative, expressed the loved ones are reeling to process his death.
"I am devastated. I don't have words," were her words.
"We know he was a voice for many people. He addressed issues courageously about issues not many people were prepared to tackle. This is a profound tragedy."
She urged the community to refrain from sharing explicit content from the scene, explaining this was an incredibly difficult time, especially for Stock's children.

Stock was the star of Ngicel' iVisa, a reality show that was broadcast on a popular local digital satellite entertainment channel.
Beyond his work in broadcasting, Stock was engaged in various business ventures, including security provision, offering VIP protection services and protecting high-profile events across South Africa.
He was also understood to participate in real estate operations and was involved in tenant removals.

In a release, the channel he worked for declared Stock was known for his presence, approachability and sharp wit, adding that his influence "will endure".
