The Red Devils Poised to Sign German Forward Lea Schüller away from Bayern Munich
Manchester United are finalising completing the signing for prolific Germany striker Lea Schüller on a permanent transfer from the Frauen-Bundesliga champions.
A Marquee Acquisition for United
The forward, with six months remaining on her contract, is known as a prolific goalscorer for both club and country. Having netted over 100 goals for the German giants and found the net 54 times in 82 caps for Germany. This signing will be seen as a major coup for the Women’s Super League team.
Her exit from Bayern was expected after she appeared to be fighting back tears while thanking the German club’s fans after a win over Bayer Leverkusen this month.
It was reported in December that the Frauen-Bundesliga was losing one of its top strikers. Per reports, all the paperwork for the transfer have now been completed.
Consistent Goalscoring to Boost United's Attack
The 28-year-old’s signing is expected to provide a significant boost to the team's attacking options. She has been highly reliable with her finishing in Germany’s top flight.
- For seven consecutive seasons, up to and including the most recent campaign, she reached at least a double-figures tally of league goals.
- She won the top scorer award in the 2021-22 season with 16 goals.
Gathering Steam at Old Trafford
The acquisition of the German international comes at a time when the club appear to be gathering positive momentum.
Their recent on-pitch successes feature securing a place in the European knockout phase playoffs as a seeded team and a victory in the League Cup quarter-finals.

- The signing of Swedish defender Hanna Lundkvist on a three-and-a-half-year deal.
- The contract extension for Japanese playmaker Hinata Miyazawa, who has become popular figure since arriving in 2023.
On the midfielder's extension, a club official stated: “She has become a critical part to the way we play. Her footballing intelligence and technical ability allows her and the team to control and dictate play from the middle of the park.”
The new defender, having arrived from a club in the NWSL, said: “You can sense how much the club have progressed in the last few years, playing in one of the strongest leagues in the world and performing in the top European competition.”
